Solzhenitsyn Dies at 89

Brent Tantillo • August 4, 2008 • Uncategorized

Nobel-Laureate Alexander Solzhenitsyn died yesterday at 89 in Moscow. My friend Charles Ganske at Russia Blog sent over this excellent piece he wrote on Solzhenitsyn’s 1978 groundbreaking trip to Harvard, which includes links to several of the great man’s last public interview’s.

Chuck also sent me this link summarizing an interview that Solzhenitsyn gave to Der Spiegel last year about the state of Russian democracy, and his view of the importance of Orthodoxy in preserving democracy in his home country.

Stay tuned for updates.
