2010: America’s Decisive Year

Lt. Col. Allen West writes his monthly message in his January Washingtoons column on the state of our Republic as we enter the critical year 2010. Will we vanquish the “Intellectual Elite Politburo” seeking to dominate and control our Republic while disregarding the US Constitution? LTC West, the Republican candidate for Congress in Florida’s 22nd CD urges us all, grassroots Conservatives, Tea Party Patriots and Republicans alike to place principle over party and fight back with courage and conviction in our foundational principles.
There are many on the GOP side who believe that 2010 will be a repeat of 1994. Honestly, I do not see that happening first because Americans are just as angry at the GOP as the Dems. From 1994 to 2006 the GOP violated their own Contract with America and became a lesser version of the liberals, big spending and corruption. They themselves have a long way to go in regaining the trust and confidence of the people. Secondly, there is no definitive GOP leader ala Newt Gingrich from 1994 who masterminded recruiting and promoting of an incredible freshman class.
I disagree. LTC West is the definitive GOP leader, who exemplifies what a true Republican should be. I also see hope that the GOP will soon wake up from its long slumber since 1994 and avoid repeating the blunder of NY District 23.
